The WSA Board of Trustees is charged with the maintenance of WSA community properties. This consists of the water system, community beach areas, playfield, roads, right-of-ways and the greenbelt. The board is working hard to keep the community safe and enjoyable. To this end we ask that you observe some simple courtesies:
- Fireworks are allowed in accordance with Island County laws: July 3rd, 9am – 11pm; July 4th, 9am – midnight; July 5th, 9am – 11pm; December 31st, 6pm – 1:00am January 1st. For more info, see https://www.swfe.org/celebrate-lawfully-in-island-county/. Fireworks are not allowed at Whidbey Shores at any time or on any day other than those listed.
- Noise/Quiet Hours Please respect the ‘quiet hours’ at Whidbey Shores between 10:00pm and 7:00am. For more information, please see the City of Langley Municipal Code regarding guidelines and restrictions.
- Overflow guest parking is available short-term at the Pump House, the gravel area at the Point, and the unpaved area of Tract D (off Eastpoint Rd at the west end of the point area) – look for signage. Please leave local contact information on the dashboard in case of emergency and do not block the doorway to the pump house. For a printable map, click here.
- Yard Waste Area Only compostable yard waste is to be dumped here. Metal fencing, construction debris and old tires are not yard waste.
- Beach fires Small fires are allowed on WSA beaches. Do not burn salt soaked driftwood or wood containing creosote – the smoke is very toxic. Please make sure the fires are completely extinguished before leaving. Make sure that your smoke isn’t bothering neighboring homeowners.
- Wood smoke Make sure that your wood stove/fire place smoke isn’t bothering your neighbors and that there is no burn ban in place.
- Clamming Please fill in your clamming holes.
- Garbage You may find it necessary to secure the lids with bungee cords as raccoons have been known to tip cans and spread garbage. Please make sure not to block access to mailboxes when you place your cans out on trash collection day.
- Dogs Island County Code requires that dog waste be scooped; this law applies at Whidbey Shores. Please clean up after your dog. Kicking a little sand over it isn’t enough – the next tide will expose it. Island County’s leash law applies at Whidbey Shores.
- Light Pollution Island county has outside lighting regulations which prohibit outside lighting that shines outward or upward. Check that your outside lighting isn’t shining in your neighbor’s windows.
- Speeding We now have more full-time residents and that means more traffic: walkers, pets, children and increased deer traffic. Remember that visibility is low near driveway and roadway entrances. Please drive slowly and safely and remind your guests to do the same. SLOW DOWN.
If your WSA residence is rented, please send a copy of this document to your renters.
